Jupiter is often seen by the public as a planet with alternating red and white bands, but this is due to its red and white cloud layers. The Great Red Spot, in reality, is a long-standing high-pressure storm with its distinctive colors resulting from chemical decomposition due to sunlight exposure. (https://science.nasa.gov/science-research/planetary-science/28nov_sunburn/)Scientists simulated substances found on Jupiter, like ammonia and acetylene, and found similarities with the Great Red Spot's composition. Its prominence is attributed to altitude and wind patterns. Given its extreme storm power (400+ mph winds, larger than Earth)
