Intro
Maxwell Montes is Venus's highest mountain, towering nearly 11 kilometers above the planet's surface, which is 2-3 km higher than Mount Everest. It is also known for its striking topography, featuring steep western slopes and more gently descending eastern slopes that merge into Fortuna Tessera, a tessellated terrain. The broad ridges and valleys of Maxwell and Fortuna suggest the influence of compression in shaping this remarkable landscape. Its unique radar-bright terrain in the above picture suggests the presence of reflective minerals, such as pyrite. Additionally, within the eastern expanse of Maxwell Montes lies Cleopatra, a double-ring impact basin, featuring lava flows and winding channels.
Are you looking to challenge a mountain higher than the Himalayas? Here, we present the climbing experience of Maxwell Montes, divided into leisure hiking and summit expedition groups. If you are a passionate mountaineer, feel free to join the summit expedition team and become the first to reach the highest point on Venus's surface!
