Intro
Mimas, one of Saturn's moons, bears witness to a tumultuous cosmic history, adorned with a plethora of impact craters, with the most prominent being Herschel Crater. This colossal crater, almost two-thirds the size of Earth's moon, came perilously close to wreaking havoc on Mimas, leaving deep rifts on its surface. This cosmic spectacle has earned Mimas the moniker "Death Star," reminiscent of the iconic space station. Naturally, Herschel Crater has become a focal point of exploration on Mimas. Beyond its staggering dimensions, Herschel Crater's enigmatic features, including the liquid pool at its base and the intriguing ridges and patterns on its floor, beckon us to delve deeper into its mysteries. We are planning an expedition to visit Herschel Crater, embarking on a small-scale space mission equipped with specialized probes to aid us in collecting and analyzing sediments from beneath the crater. Upon concluding the mission, we will share our findings and engage in public outreach to elucidate the origin of these subterranean materials, allowing for a greater understanding and appreciation of the wonders hidden within this celestial impact site. Furthermore, we will guide visitors on a tour of the fractures on the moon's surface, providing a firsthand experience of the awe-inspiring power unleashed during celestial collisions in the vastness of space.
